Background

Ban Mae Sa School, in Mae Najon Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, is part of the Chiang Mai Primary Educational Service Area Office 6. Located in a remote, mountainous area, the school teaches students from kindergarten through grade 9, with 159 students in total, most of whom are from the Karen hill-tribe community. The kindergarten classroom was previously located on the ground floor of a two-storey building shared with secondary-school classrooms — a cramped space with poor lighting, constant noise, and no dedicated restroom for young children. The school requested support to build a separate kindergarten building.
